Introduction

ToRead is committed to respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how information is handled when you use the ToRead iOS app.

Key point: We do not run servers that store your reading data. Your content stays on your device and (optionally) in your personal iCloud account.

Your Data Stays With You

What you create in ToRead

Depending on how you use the app, ToRead may store information such as:

• Reading sessions: start/end timestamps, duration, and optional notes you add
• Optional book context: titles and lightweight metadata you choose to enter
• App preferences: theme choices and reminder time settings

We do not collect analytics or track you

ToRead does not:

• create user accounts
• collect usage analytics or advertising identifiers
• track you across apps or websites

Where Your Data Is Stored

ToRead stores data in the following places, depending on your settings:

• On-device storage: data is stored locally on your iPhone.
• iCloud / CloudKit (optional): if you enable iCloud sync, your data is synced via your personal Apple iCloud account.
• App Group storage (app + widgets/live activity): certain timer state needed for widgets and Live Activities may be mirrored within the shared app group container on your device.

We do not have access to your local data or your iCloud data.

How the App Works With Your Data

Your data is used on-device to:

• run the reading timer and keep it consistent across background/foreground
• show your reading history and reflections
• schedule local notifications for gentle reminders (if enabled)
• update widgets and Live Activities

No Data Sharing

Because we do not collect your reading data, we do not sell, share, or disclose it to third parties.

Third-Party Services

ToRead relies on a small number of third-party services provided by Apple, and (optionally) a purchase processor:

Apple iCloud / CloudKit

If you enable iCloud sync, Apple processes your data as part of providing iCloud services. Apple's terms and privacy policy apply.

Apple App Store / StoreKit

If you make an in-app purchase (e.g., a tip), Apple processes the payment. We do not receive your payment details.

RevenueCat (In-App Purchase infrastructure)

ToRead uses RevenueCat to support optional in-app purchases (tips). RevenueCat may process purchase-related information (such as receipt/transaction data and device/app identifiers) to validate transactions and provide purchase functionality.

Your Rights and Choices

You can:

• access and manage your data directly inside the app
• delete sessions and other data you created
• disable iCloud sync at any time
• delete the app to remove on-device data

Data Security

Your data security depends on:

• your device security settings (passcode/Face ID)
• Apple's iCloud security features (if iCloud sync is enabled)

We cannot access or recover your data if it is deleted.

Children's Privacy

ToRead is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, we will post the updated policy and change the "Last updated" date.

If you are a California resident, you may have rights under the CCPA/CPRA regarding personal information. Since ToRead does not collect or sell personal information, there is no personal data for us to sell, share, or disclose.
