Our Commitment to Privacy

TuCuento is designed with your family's privacy in mind. We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide our interactive storytelling service.

What We Collect

Device and Technical Identifiers

We generate an anonymous device identifier (UUID) stored locally on your device. We also use session IDs and request IDs for operational purposes. We may temporarily process IP addresses for rate limiting and security. These identifiers do not include personal contact information.

Usage Analytics

We collect privacy-first analytics events to understand how the app is used and to improve the experience. Event data may include:

• App version and platform
• Story theme, world, character type, age group, and language
• Story duration, choices, and paywall interactions

Analytics events are linked to the anonymous device ID.

Story Session Data

When you create a story, we store story settings and session state to deliver and resume the experience, including:

• Character name and animal type
• Theme, world/setting, tone, and language
• Choices and story summaries
• Narrative summaries and story history

Feedback Data

If you submit feedback, we store your rating and optional reason, plus limited story context (theme, character type, age group, and optional scene summaries).

Purchase and Balance Data

We store your anonymous device ID with story balance, purchase history, and subscription status (for existing subscribers).

Diagnostics

We store error logs and diagnostic data (error type, message, stack trace, endpoint, request ID, session ID, and limited context) to troubleshoot issues and improve reliability.

What We Do NOT Collect

• Names, emails, phone numbers, or other contact information
• Precise location data
• Photos, videos, contacts, or files from your device
• Voice recordings or microphone data
• Browsing history or data from other apps
• Payment card details (handled by Apple/App Store)

How We Use Your Data

Story Generation and Narration

Character names and story settings are sent to our AI providers (OpenAI or Google Gemini) to generate story text and narration.

Analytics and Product Improvement

We use analytics to understand product usage, improve story quality, and measure feature performance. We do not use analytics for advertising.

Balance and Purchase Management

Your anonymous device ID is used to track your story balance and manage purchases.

Diagnostics and Security

We use error logs and rate limiting to maintain reliability and prevent abuse.

No Advertising or Cross-App Tracking

We do not use advertising networks, we do not sell your data, and we do not track users across apps or websites.

Third-Party Services

OpenAI

We use OpenAI's API to generate story text and, in some cases, narration. OpenAI processes data according to its privacy policy.

RevenueCat

RevenueCat processes in-app purchases (story packs and legacy subscriptions) through the App Store. They receive purchase metadata.

Data Storage and Security

• Story sessions, analytics, feedback, subscriptions, and diagnostics are stored on secure servers
• Data is transmitted using HTTPS encryption
• Generated audio may be cached briefly to improve playback
• We retain data only as long as needed for service, security, and product improvement
• Anonymous device IDs are stored to manage story balance and purchases

Family Privacy

TuCuento is designed for families and intended for use by parents together with their families—not for unsupervised use. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from users. The character names entered are fictional story elements and are not used as personal identifiers.

Your Rights

You can:

• Delete the app to remove your local device identifier
• Contact us to request deletion of server-side data
• Disable internet access to prevent data transmission (stories require internet)

California Residents (CCPA)

We collect minimal anonymous data as described above. We do not sell personal information. You may contact us to request information about data practices or deletion.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Significant changes will be communicated through app updates.
